On air at 88.5 WFDD
Since January 2012, I have been a freelance reporter for NPR-affiliate KQED in San Francisco. I contribute daily news and feature stories on energy and the environment.
From January 2006 to July 2007, I was the Morning Edition host and general assignment reporter at NPR member station 88.5 WFDD in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I received numerous awards for reporting on business, racial issues and the environment. I also produced a national story for NPR about an former furniture manufacturing town revitalized by Google's decision to locate a server farm there.
After moving to Taiwan in 2007, I became the Taiwan Correspondent for Voice of America. Until January 2010, I also filed breaking news stories to NPR newscasts, and features to PRI's The World.
After moving to Paris, France in March 2010, I worked briefly for Radio France International before coming to France 24.

Podcasting
As a broadcast journalism student at USC Annenberg, I focused on both video documentary and radio production. Podcasting had just caught on when I completed my master's in 2005. I was interested in the potential of this medium, and connected with Limetwig, a marketing and communications agency in San Marino, CA that specializes in higher education.
Limetwig was encouraging its university clients to supplement traditional print brochures with sound-rich, narrative podcasts that would appeal to web-savvy, prospective students. I co-produced two for the Caltech Office of Admissions.
The first was about the Richard Feynman, the late Caltech professor whose brilliance, curiosity and irreverent pranks made him the first "rock star scientist."
The second was about Team Caltech, a group of dedicated undergrads who toiled for months to build an autonomous, computer-controlled vehicle called Alice that competed in the DARPA Grand Challenge.
