From 2008 to 2009, I served as treasurer of the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents' Club.
The TFCC uses a strength-in-numbers strategy to solicit important speakers for Q&A sessions, and, if necessary, lobby on behalf of journalists under pressure from government or industry. In addition to overseeing the finances of the club, I helped organize events, such as this briefing with Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou, as well as with other prominent newsmakers in Taiwanese society. I also assisted our 5-person committee in attracting new members, assembling annual field trips, and organizing social events to create value for members. |
